#SoundtrackSunday September Prompt….That’s My Swagger…

Soundtrack Sunday

That’s My Swagger

This month’s prompt is all about showing your swagger…for those of you who don’t know exactly what that is, here is the Urban Dictionary definition of the word:

How one presents him or her self to the world. Swagger is shown from how the person handles a situation. It can also be shown in the person’s walk.

Chose a song, list of songs, or lyric that tells us all about your swagger and create a post, on your blog or Tumblr, on one of the Sundays in the month of September (or, if you have multiple songs, you can post on multiple Sundays throughout the month). Don’t forget to tag your post with #SoundtrackSunday and create a pingback by replying in the comment section of this post with the link to your own blog post. You may use any of the graphics included in this post, for your own answer to the prompt.

I will re-blog posts that I like, throughout the month and I will be answering the post myself. I look forward to seeing how all you creative minds out there answer this prompt!

Tips:

Don’t worry too much about choosing the “right” song; just choose a song that you really connect with…after all, it’s your life and your soundtrack…have fun with it!

If you don’t want to explain your connection with the song, don’t. The writing isn’t a requirement, it’s a suggestion. In the end, it’s up to you whether you want to really elaborate on it or not.

Don’t forget to create a pingback to this post (by posting a link to it in your blog) and return to post your own link in the comments so we can all read your post.

#BeQuotable…Day 9…Movie Quotes…#DirtyDancing

Standard

“I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw. I’m scared of what I did, of who I am…and most of all, I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.” ~Dirty Dancing

I could list, literally, hundreds (maybe thousands) of movie quotes that are epically awesome, have touched me/made me feel something or that I find profound. I chose this particular quote for today’s post, not because it’s the best of my favorite movie quotes or one liners. I chose this quote because it was the first movie quote that I remember having a significant effect on me. I watched Dirty Dancing when I was 5 years old (5 years after the movie’s release) and most of the movie confused me, at that age. This particular scene, however, grabbed my attention and when Jennifer Grey delivered these lines, I got chills. It was the beginning of a wonderful relationship with movies. I understand, even then, the power that movies have on the viewer; the manner in which our movie watching experiences shape our thoughts, behaviors and realities. Movies are the most modern and relevant method of delivery for the written word….and I love really well written movies.

So, readers, I want to open the comment section up…I want to know what your favorite movie quotes are. *Comment Below*

#BeQuotable…Day 8….Quote From My Favorite Book @PatrickRothfuss

Standard

Name of the Wind- I am obsessed with this book.

“‘But there’s a better way. You show her she is beautiful. You make mirrors of your eyes, prayers of your hands against her body. It’s hard, very hard, but when she truly believes you…’Bast gestured excitedly. ‘Suddenly the story she tells herself in her own head changes. She transforms. She isn’t sen as beautiful. She is beautiful, seen.’ ~Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind

I could honestly choose thousands of quotes from The Name of the Wind (or The Wise Man’s Fearfor that matter) for today’s quote. But then, my blog would be an exact translation of both books in The Kingkiller Chronicles…and that would be of no use to anyone because these books are meant to be read in entirety….in print…under the covers with a flashlight.

When a friend recommended that I read The Name of the Wind, I had no idea of the treasure he was handing me. These books epitomize the reason why I read…and the reason why I write. The world imagined is beautiful and complete and I want to live in that world. The characters are deep and lovable and I want to fold each one up and store them inside myself…so that I might be a better person. The story…the story is unique and riveting and you can’t let go of it once you get into it.

I know, I’m sounding like a fangirl right now and I know that I’m supposed to be talking about the quote but I feel a deep need to express what these books have done for me. They remind me of the reasons why I read…the reasons when I write. They inspired me to pick up a pen and strive to be a better writer, every day….because one day, I want to write a story that makes people feel the way that the Kingkiller Chronicles made me feel. Patrick Rothfuss stands, in my mind, alongside Neil Gaiman as being one of the most influential minds of our time and if I can imagine a story half as great and moving as either of these novels, I will die a complete person.

So, that’s your quote today…from my favorite books(s)…and a completely random blathering about how much I ❤ Patrick Rothfuss…and Yes, the links to both of these amazing novels are above…if you haven’t read them, you should…They…will…change…your…life…!

#BeQuotable…Day 3…Friendship

Most popular tags for this image include: bff, friendship, love and toinfinity

“Growing apart doesn’t change the fact that for a long time, we grew side by side; our roots will always be tangled. I’m glad for that.” ~Ally Condie, Matched

This is perhaps the perfect friendship quote. I’ve moved around a lot and so I have grown apart from a lot of really great friends. The ones with whom my roots are really tangled are among the most important and precious friendships that I could ever have.

#BeQuotable…Day 1–Quote From Beyond….

"You're only given one little spark of madness. You mustn't lost it." - Robin Williams #quotes

You’re Only Given One Little Spark Of Madness. You Musn’t lose it. ~Robin Williams

I could almost let today’s quote speak for itself. As the world is mourning the loss of Robin Williams (and sometimes heatedly debating the way in which he passed), I am reminded of his inspiration. Robin Williams touched the lives of many of us—from the very young, to the very old. He shared his madness with us all…he made us laugh…he made us think…he made us feel…and then he tried to live with the price of fame. So, today’s quote is dedicated to his legacy…and the madness within us all!
