Stepping into the world of Self Publishing, a lot of things are unknown to me. One of the things I wondered, as I was creating my author’s website is branding for authors. As far as I know, the author’s brands usually lies in the scope of the material they write. Take Stephen King, for example. He’s the “horror guy”. While this serves as his “brand”, I wonder how many authors these days work toward making an actual brand package for themselves.
Supporting my husband through design school has taught me a thing or two about branding and so I have decide that this is exactly the route I will take. Above is the logo I have created to serve as a representation for my “brand”. It is present on my social media pages as well as my author’s webpage. I also plan to use it on the letterhead of my query letters to publishers and work it into the interior design of my books.
Along with the logo and color scheme (blue and black), I have come up with a signature quote and mission statement. They are on the homepage of my website but I will include them here for your review.
“Never live life in your own shadow.
Instead, break free and allow
your soul to soar!”
To write books which are honest and idealistic. To tell stories of the arcane hidden within the mundane and light the soul of my readers on fire with hope and wonderment!
I’m not sure how revolutionary this is but, as I stated before, the worlds of self-publishing and self-promotion as an author are new to me. I just wanted to put it out there and see what the readers of my blog think of this. I know many of you are writers, yourself, so I would love some feedback about what you think of this idea. Furthermore, any advice about how I can drum up support for my novel as I work toward publishing would be appreciated more than you know.
